Located in the heart of Poole, Highmoor Farm is a vital resource for the local ecosystem. While it's not open to the public directly, there is public footpaths through the farm and we welcome visitors to see our animals while sticking to the footpaths at all time.
The farm plays a crucial role in sustaining the environment and supporting the animals in the area. Spread across 60 acres, Highmoor Farm is a green oasis in the midst of a densely populated area. The farm is located between Bournemouth University campus and the Talbot Heath nature reserve, making it an essential habitat for wildlife in the region. For generations, the farm has been home to cattle, sheep, and horses, providing a natural grazing area for these animals. Highmoor Farm is the last remaining of six farms set up by the Talbot sisters in the nineteenth century to feed the people of Poole, and it remains an integral part of the local community. Highmoor Farm is a key contributor to maintaining the natural balance of the region, and its efforts are greatly appreciated by the community and the wildlife that call it home.
Our Highland Cattle
Meet Our Beautiful Highland Cattle at Highmoor Farm Highland cattle are a unique and beautiful breed of cattle, and we're lucky to have them on our farm at Highmoor. Our Local Wildlife
Highmoor Farm is not only home to our beloved Highland cattle and flock of sheep, but it's also a haven for a diverse range of local wildlife. One of the most fascinating creatures that can be seen on our farm is the family of foxes that free roams the fields. These elusive and intelligent animals are a delight to observe.
Some rare and beautiful birds that can be seen on our farm such as the Song thrush. With its distinctive and melodic song, this bird is a treat for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts alike. Other feathered friends that can be spotted on our farm include Dunnocks, Stonechat, Robins, Goldfinch, and many more. We also have a thriving population of stag beetles that inhabit the farm's woodland areas. These magnificent insects are a sight to behold, with their distinctive jaws and impressive size. At Highmoor Farm, we take great pride in our efforts to maintain the land's biodiversity, which in turn provides a habitat for a wealth of fascinating creatures.
